Search Lowndes County Released Inmates

Lowndes County released inmates can leave local custody through bond, completion of a sentence, a court order, or a transfer into another system. A Lowndes County released inmate search must therefore identify both the last facility and what happened next. Lowndes County released inmates often vanish from a live jail roster even though a release record still exists. County booking records, criminal court orders, state corrections records, supervision files, and custody alerts answer different parts of the question. To search for Lowndes County released inmates accurately, compare identity details and confirm whether the person entered the community or merely moved to another agency.

Lowndes County Release Records Explained

A release record is the custody transaction that closes or changes one booking at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. It is not the arrest report, charge list, bond order, judgment, or supervision record. The jail record should connect a named person to a booking, state when the custody event occurred, and describe its result. That last field matters. “Bond,” “recognizance,” “time served,” “sentence completed,” “dismissed,” or another court-authorized disposition may mark a return to the community when no other hold remains. “Released to MDOC,” “transferred,” “writ,” or release to another county, federal authority, or immigration authority means the person left the Lowndes facility but remained in custody.

A live roster answers a narrower question: who is displayed in custody at that moment. Lowndes County’s legacy current-inmate page reported that its list was temporarily unavailable during a move to a new inmate-management system when researched on July 26, 2026. Even when restored, a missing name will not prove release. The person may have transferred, been rebooked, appeared under a corrected identity, or been omitted while data moved between systems. The booking and release sheet is the closest record to the actual gate event.

Important: A person can leave the county jail without entering the community. Read the recorded disposition and receiving agency before calling the event a release.

Lowndes County Release Types

Different release terms lead to different records. The court usually supplies legal authority, while the jail records the physical custody change. A supervision record may then show what follows. These sources can carry different timestamps because court clerks, jail staff, and outside agencies update their systems at different stages.

Recorded eventWhat it meansBest confirmation
Bond or recognizanceThe present hold may end while the case continues.Jail release sheet plus the bond or recognizance order
Time served or sentence completeThe stated custodial term ended, unless another booking or hold applies.Jail or MDOC discharge record plus the sentence order
Dismissed or acquittedThe charge ended at that stage, but another matter may still hold the person.Filed court order plus the jail’s exit transaction
Parole, probation, or earned-release supervisionThe person may live in the community under stated conditions.MDOC or court record and current supervising-office verification
TransferThe person left Lowndes custody for MDOC, another jail, USMS, or ICE.Lowndes transfer entry plus the receiving system’s record
DeceasedCustody closed due to death, not an ordinary release.Official agency record and the proper vital or coroner record
Discharge
The end of a custody or sentence status shown by the agency that controlled it.
Parole
Conditional community release from an MDOC sentence before its full expiration.
Probation
Court-ordered community supervision that can begin without a state-prison release.
Time served
A finding that the custodial part of a sentence has been satisfied by time already spent.
Detainer
A request or legal hold from another authority that may block community release.

Note: A release date without a release type is incomplete because it cannot distinguish freedom from a transfer into continued custody.

Lowndes County Release Record Fields

The broken Odyssey portal prevented inspection of Lowndes County’s exact public database fields. The inventory below is therefore a request checklist, not a claim that every item appears online or can be disclosed. Ask for the existing record and let the custodian identify any exempt part. Tying all fields to one booking reduces mistaken identity and makes a later court or state comparison far more reliable.

Field to requestWhat it establishes
Full name and identifiersWhich person the record concerns; compare date of birth and suffix when available.
Booking numberThe specific custody episode, especially when a person has more than one booking.
Booking date and timeWhen the local custody transaction began.
Facility and chargesWhere the booking was held and which allegations were tied to it.
Bond informationWhether bond was recorded and how it relates to the case.
Release date and timeWhen the system recorded the custody change; ask whether this was actual departure time.
Release authority or typeBond, time served, dismissal, transfer, or another stated basis.
Receiving agencyWhere custody went next when the event was a transfer.
Booking photographThe image tied to that exact booking, if public and available.

No official source disclosed the online display period, archive length, or portal update speed for Lowndes County released inmate records. The underlying agency record may last after a name drops from a roster. Retention must be confirmed with the records custodian and the applicable schedule. A public record may also change later due to sealing, expungement, correction, or lawful redaction.

Note: Request each field as part of the existing booking record; do not imply that Lowndes County must create a custom release summary.

Request Lowndes County Release Records

Lowndes County provides an official public-record request route, a downloadable request form, and a written policy. No separate sheriff request form was verified. County Administration can route a request or identify the Sheriff’s designated custodian. Use the mail or web channel because county sources conflict on the Main Street number for hand delivery. The form routes mail to Lowndes County Administration, PO Box 1364, Columbus, MS 39703, and lists 662-329-5896 and 662-329-5884 for confirmation.

  1. Identify the record creator. Ask the Sheriff for the booking and release transaction, the clerk for the filed order, or MDOC for a state sentence and discharge record.
  2. Give stable identifiers. Include the full name, date of birth, booking number, case number, MDOC number, and a narrow date range when known.
  3. Request an existing booking/release sheet. Specify release date and time, release authority or type, receiving agency if transferred, bond record, and the photo tied to that booking.
  4. Ask for a native electronic file or PDF by email, an advance estimate, and the statutory basis for any withheld part. Do not ask staff to create a new account of why release occurred.
  5. Log the sent date, delivery channel, response, estimate, payment, and withheld items. Compare the result with the matching court order before drawing a conclusion.

The indexed county policy lists black-and-white copies at $0.50 per page, paper scanning at $0.50 per page, and a CD at $5 plus allowed costs. Email itself carries no charge unless another allowed cost applies. Mailing is actual cost. Search, review, and redaction use the rate of the lowest-paid qualified employee and may be collected in advance, so a tight request can save time and expense.

Mississippi’s Public Records Act, sections 25-61-1 through 25-61-19, governs access subject to exemptions and reasonable procedures. A public body with written procedures generally has up to seven working days. If production cannot occur within that time, the body must explain the delay in writing, and production generally may extend to fourteen working days unless the parties agree. Section 25-61-7 allows reasonable actual costs, while section 25-61-11 supports separating exempt details from releasable material. A denial should cite authority.

Does Bond Mean Lowndes Release?

No. A Lowndes bond order and physical release are two distinct events. Mississippi Code section 99-5-11 allows authorized officers to accept qualifying forms of bail in stated circumstances, while the proper court preserves the order. Yet a second case, another county hold, an MDOC detainer, a federal writ, or an immigration action can keep the person confined or cause a transfer after bond is posted.

Pair the court’s bond record with the jail transaction. Ask whether the referenced booking closed, when it closed, what disposition was entered, and whether another agency received the person. A court order can show that release was legally authorized on stated terms. Only the custody record can show whether processing ended in a community exit. This distinction is especially important when family members see a bond entry before the jail has finished hold checks.

Note: Court filing time, jail transaction time, and actual departure time can differ, so preserve each source and timestamp rather than forcing one date.

Expunged Lowndes Release Records

Mississippi Code section 99-19-71 creates several expungement paths. Subsection (4) addresses a person who was arrested and released when the case was dismissed, the charges were dropped, no disposition occurred, or the case ended in acquittal. Other routes have their own conditions and exclusions. A successful order can remove information from public records while limited nonpublic records remain.

That change affects how an old Lowndes County release is found. An empty public court or jail search years later does not disprove the booking or release. It may reflect an expungement, seal, correction, system migration, or ordinary retention practice. Conversely, an older copy held elsewhere does not establish current agency status. Confirm the governing order with the court and ask the record custodian what portion remains public. Eligibility depends on the case and current law, so this description is not legal advice.

Find Lowndes County Released Inmates

Start with the last known custody system. Do not search each database as though it covers the same people. A Lowndes bond-out may never enter MDOC. A state tentative release date does not prove a county-jail exit. BOP covers federal prison records, not county or state custody. The Mississippi registry applies only to people who have a legal duty to register.

  1. Check the official current-inmate page only for present display. Record any outage, and never treat absence as proof.
  2. Try Odyssey Public Access for its indexed “Jail Records” and “Jail Bond Records” options. If it still loops, note the failure and move to direct channels.
  3. Contact the Adult Detention Center or Sheriff’s custodian. Ask whether the booking closed and whether the result was community release or transfer.
  4. Retrieve the right court order. Use Circuit Court for felony outcomes, Justice Court for county misdemeanors and felony preliminaries, and Municipal Court for Columbus cases.
  5. Search MDOC only when commitment, transfer, or state supervision is plausible. Use the inmate and parolee forms separately.
  6. Use MS SAVIN/VINE for a participating agency’s status events. Read “transfer,” “movement,” and “release” as different events.
  7. For a federal or immigration matter, use BOP, the federal docket or USMS, or ICE as the facts require. File a focused request when public tools do not answer the question.
Important: Lowndes County has no verified public 24-hour or 72-hour release feed. The current roster is not a substitute for a release list.

A broader same-day route is available on the Jail Releases: 24 Hours page. For one named person, the sequence above remains the stronger method because it follows the booking into the correct next system.

Lowndes Release Portals Have Limits

Two local interfaces failed in different ways during the July 26, 2026 research sweep. The legacy current-inmate page displayed a temporary-unavailability notice tied to a new inmate-management system. Odyssey Public Access advertised jail and bond records in search indexing but repeatedly looped between its default and login pages. No release field, date filter, photo behavior, update pace, or archive period could be inspected.

The captured sheriff current-inmate page shows the exact access problem. It is evidence of a system transition, not evidence that any named person was released.

That distinction changes the fallback. Save the search date, spelling, and any booking number. Then call for the booking status or submit a narrow written request. A broken portal means online access failed; it does not mean the government record does not exist.

Note: Recheck both local portals when seeking a new release, since their availability and visible fields can change after a system migration.

Which Lowndes Court Holds Release Proof?

The prominent Chancery “Official Records” portal is a land-record index. It is not the criminal disposition search. Lowndes felony outcomes belong with Circuit Court. Justice Court handles felony preliminary matters and misdemeanors outside municipal limits where county-jail time may apply. Columbus matters belong with Municipal Court, while Youth Court records are restricted.

The Lowndes Circuit Clerk maintains the judgment roll and can route requests for a docket, bond order, final judgment, sentence, dismissal, acquittal, revocation, or recorded satisfaction. Its criminal division can be reached at 662-241-1920 or 662-329-3335 during the published weekday office hours. Justice Court is the better source for its own orders and can be reached at 662-329-5929.

A final order explains the legal result. It does not establish the exact moment the person left the jail when another hold existed. Pair it with the Lowndes booking/release sheet. The Circuit Clerk source shown below identifies the correct county office, which helps avoid sending a criminal-release inquiry to the land-record system.

The court document and jail transaction are complementary: one states authority, while the other records the actual custody change.

Where Columbus Inmate Releases Appear

Columbus does not have a separately verified long-stay municipal jail in the facility map. WCBI reported that the city and Lowndes County renewed an arrangement under which Columbus inmates stay at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. Its June 2026 report described $321,000 in reimbursement for March 2025 through May 2026 at $25 per person per day. Those figures describe the city-county custody arrangement, not releases, jail population, or annual volume.

The arrangement splits the record trail. The county jail should hold the physical booking and release transaction because it housed the person. Columbus Municipal Court should hold the municipal bond or disposition order. Both can be accurate at once. Search the county record for when and how custody changed, then use the municipal case for why the court authorized that result.

Lowndes Release Supervision and Reentry

A Lowndes County released person may remain under parole, probation, or earned-release supervision. MDOC’s public Parolees Search can display County Supervised, region or area, officer when populated, offenses, and Flat Time Date. It is not described as a complete probation locator, and a past flat-time date alone does not prove that supervision is over. Verify the current public status through the Lowndes Probation & Parole Office when the state record points there.

That office is a Community Corrections site, not a detention facility. MDOC lists it at 1207-B US-45 North, Columbus, MS 39705, with 662-241-4051. No public office hours or walk-in process were verified. Call instead of assuming that an unannounced visit is allowed. A person under supervision should follow the instructions provided in their own case.

MDOC’s Pathway to Re-entry Resource Guide describes a Resource Assistance Program for people still under Community Corrections supervision and identifies both a Clay/Lowndes contact and the Columbus Region 2 office. The guide dates from 2022, so its staff names and service details need current confirmation. It is a route to ask about help, not a promise that a specific service is open or available.

Note: A supervision record can confirm a community-status lead, but it does not replace the county jail transaction for the original release date and type.

Lowndes Release Alerts and Federal Records

Mississippi uses MS SAVIN, delivered through VINE, for custody notifications involving MDOC and participating county facilities. Lowndes jail participation was not independently proved by an official participant list. Test by selecting Mississippi and searching the person, or call MS SAVIN at 601-359-5759. The round-the-clock help line is 1-888-9-MSSAVIN. An alert may describe release, transfer, temporary movement, return to custody, escape, or an abscond-related event. Read the event word literally and confirm it with the source agency.

Federal and immigration paths are narrower. The BOP inmate locator covers federal prison records from 1982 forward. A result can display “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” and a date, but BOP warns that another justice system or supervised release may follow. A federal pretrial person held under USMS authority may never enter BOP search results. Use the federal docket and USMS inquiry for that stage.

The BOP source shown below applies only when federal custody is plausible.

ICE has a separate online detainee locator. A missing ICE result can reflect spelling, delay, excluded categories, transfer, or release and is not proof of community status. No federal prison, ICE center, or USMS facility was verified in Lowndes County. Use those systems only when the case or hold supplies a reason.

Lowndes Release Status by System

The best source changes with custody type and question. “Still in custody” and “released” are not opposite buttons in one complete Lowndes database. Match the system to the agency that created the event, then compare a second source when the next custody destination matters.

SituationFirst sourceWhat it cannot prove alone
Currently displayed at county jailLowndes current roster, when restoredPast release history or why a missing name vanished
Released from county jailSheriff booking/release sheetLegal reason without the court order
Transferred to state custodyLowndes transfer record, then MDOCCommunity release merely because the county booking closed

Federal prison statusBOP locator and federal docketCounty, state, ICE, or every supervised-release status
Immigration custodyICE locator and ERO confirmationThat departure from ICE meant return to the community
Qualifying registry dutyMississippi sex-offender registryA general jail release or all released people

When sources disagree, use the record closest to the fact in question. The jail controls gate-out facts, the court controls its filed order, MDOC controls state sentence computation, and the relevant federal or immigration agency controls its own custody event.

Lowndes County Release Facility

The Lowndes County Adult Detention Center is the one verified adult detention facility that requires its own page. It is operated by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. A true community release should appear in its booking/release record. A disposition naming MDOC, another county, USMS, or ICE describes a transfer to continued custody.

Its commonly listed address is 527 South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Columbus, MS 39701, and its commonly published jail number is 662-329-5827. Neither was recovered from a stable official detention-center contact page during research, so confirm both by telephone before relying on them. The sheriff’s official county landing page remains the best official entry point.

The Columbus municipal holding function does not warrant a second facility page because city inmates are reported as kept at the county detention center. The Lowndes Probation & Parole Office is also excluded from the detention list because it supervises people in the community and does not release anyone from jail.
